Ethical behavior is the result of four processes Moral Sensitivity The ability interpret situations, recognize the ethical issue, and understand consequences Moral Judgement The ability to decide which act is morally justified

The commitment to doing what is ethical using ethical standards, and taking responsibility for consequences Moral Character The courage, determination, and confidence to execute ethical behavior

Personal Ethics Personal Ethics is the guiding force behind your personal decisions It is comprised of 5 basic elements Discretion: The ability to make choices in situations that have no clear rules or social norms Duty: The process of deciding between competing obligations Honesty, Loyalty, Respect

Personal Ethics Ethics in Environmental Science must balance aspects of peace, order, liberty, security, and the law The law dictates what people MUST do Ethics is what people SHOULD do

Ethics in the Justice System
Justice: The fair and equitable treatment of all individuals under the law Each and every individual must have equal rights To freedom To equal opportunities And should not be subject to politics or social interest Criminal Justice professions should be based on fairness, equality, and impartiality
