2. Why are we introducing a new scheme?
We want to make handwriting a natural and automatic skill so that children can write fluently and at speed.
We want to eliminate problems with letter formation, reversals, legibilty and sentence and word spacing.

3. How are we going to do this?
Introduce a cursive script: all the same letters in a word are joined
Teach a script where all letters have the same entry and exit strokes.
Use the KBER scheme: a developmental programme using hands-on, multi-sensory teaching created with dyslexic children in mind, progressing through different letter shapes.

Taught separately up to 3x a week
Expectation to join letters
Pen licence
Reception class
Positioning and development of fine and gross motor skills
