2 FAITH ALONE 1

3 Romans 3: (NASB) 21  But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,  22  even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;  23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

4 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;  26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

9 What About Justification Romans 3:21-26
A Definition of Justification Justification is an act of God by which He declares sinners to be righteous by Grace Alone through Faith Alone because of Christ Alone. The source of our justification is the grace of Christ – (v24). The ground of our justification is the work of Christ – (v25). The means of our justification is faith (vs 25-26).

10 What About Justification Romans 3:21-26
Then What is Faith? Righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ – (v22). Jesus is a sacrifice of atonement through faith in His blood – (v25). God justifies those who have faith in Jesus – (v26). Justified by faith apart from the Law – (v28)

11 What About Justification Romans 3:21-26
Then What is Faith? Faith starts with a knowledge of the truth. Awareness or notitia Before I can believe in, I have to believe that. Faith without content is not real faith. “Nothing can enter the sanctuary of the heart until it enters the vestibule of the mind.”

12 What About Justification Romans 3:21-26
Then What is Faith? Faith then moves to belief. Assent or assensus Knowing content is important but not saving. You can know something and yet not believe. Moving from the head to the heart

13 What About Justification Romans 3:21-26
Then What is Faith? Faith then becomes trust. Commitment or fiducia This part of faith goes beyond the knowledge of the head and belief of the heart. This speaks to the Lordship of Christ. This is the part where true, genuine faith produces evidence of that faith. But it costs us everything! Matt. 13:44-46

14 Matthew 13: (NASB) 44  “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45  “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46  and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

15 What About Justification Romans 3:21-26
Application Do you believe in Jesus or do you believe Jesus? Has your faith moved from your head to your heart to your actions? Is Jesus Lord of your life?
