4 Forehand Smash Aim Start position Preparation Hitting Recovery
Hit the shuttle from overhead in a downwards direction, flying close to the top of the net Normal smash to land in rear mid-court Slow smash to land in front mid-court Start position Basic grip Turn legs and body to the side, so non-racket side is nearest the net Racket moved to above and just in front of your head Preparation Same as forehand clear except try to position yourself further behind the shuttle in order to hit downwards Hitting Similar to forehand clear except greater racket head speed Impact point is in front of impact point for clear Shuttle hit downwards Whip action Recovery During hitting body rotates almost 180° until racket shoulder is nearest the net Momentum carries player forwards towards base position Follow through of racket to non-racket hip
