Qtr 1 position Trading Account Kitchen Cashflow Meal Numbers

2 Qtr 1 Position Revenue Budget Income
Attached are the figues for Qtr 1 budget position. Figures are based up to 30th November 2015. B/fwd Figures have been confirmed with Duncan and Toplis and agreed back to SPA systems 1415 Accounts have been submitted to the EFA within the deadline time. Income to date overall is based on forecasted budget at qtr 1 and is 23.69%. This compares equally to the same period last year. Qtr 1 expectations would be a 25% input however there are reason for this We await income for Pupil Premium which we have not accrued for this quarter. Local Authority income is at 9.51% due to the timings that money is received. Trading income to be “gifted” back at year end. Summer camp grant has being received with a slight over accrual of £250. The attached spreadsheet shows the & income in different areas. Early indications show that we are on target to receive the budgeted income.

3 Qtr 1 Position Revenue and Capital Budget Expenditure
Figures are based up to 30th November 2015 with accruals. Expenditure is 22.89% against a figure of 25.5% last year. We are working on a very tight budged and based on the forecast showing that we are on target. The attached spreadsheet shows the expenditure in different areas Reforecast of the staffing budget has taken place following recommendations from the pay committee. Staff changes have been reflected in the forecast with an additional TA. We held off recruiting to ensure affordability. We have two work experience staff working one day per week each in the Labs and the Accounts office. This is in support of our Vision and the cost is time input only. The Carry forward figure is circa £297K, which includes last years figure of £792K. The high carry forward is as a result of £331k worth of building works not yet complete and this is committed for spend this year. All income was accrued for in 2014/15. This puts us in a strong position for 15.16, however we year 3 shows a weaker position due to rising costs so we need to ensure that we do not overspend as a result of the higher carry forward. A bid has been placed on 11/12/2015 for £423K to undertake essential roofing works within the school. I will keep you informed of progress. Bids are underway for the library and cycle facilities Qtr 1 shows £0K purchase of fixed assets.

6 Kitchen Cashflow The Kitchen is showing a predicted surplus of circa £23K based on assumptions and performance last year. Qtr 1 last year showed 11K surplus due to investment for UIFSM. We are currently on track to achieve this figure Meal numbers at SPA are down by 4% this time last year. This is because of timings at time of writing due to Christmas dinner week. I attach comprehensive meal take up reports for the lower schools and meal numbers are up as a result. Laburnum is our lowest performing school so this is an area that needs however is still predicated to make a surplus. I have met with Helen and in this regard and set targets that need to be met. We have the support of the school for marketing the meals. Maple Tree is up by 1.93% Laburnum is down by 5% and St Swithun’s is stable with a 0.6% increase. In order to achieve the income predicted we need to have 23 meals per school per day extra from the UIFSM. This is achievable given the meal is free to parents. Further research undertaken has shown that the take up of the UIFSM is lower than the government expected and some schools show as low as 50% with the average showing approximately 80%.
