Qualtrics Survey on Staff Engagement
Qualtrics survey distributed to all staff on on Aug 10, given one week to complete 44 staff members completed the survey Staff were asked to select two areas of the Gallop survey that they would like the department to address in In addition they were asked to provide ideas for addressing those areas 7/19/2018 [ADD PRESENTATION TITLE: INSERT TAB > HEADER & FOOTER > NOTES AND HANDOUTS]

In Person Survey on Staff Engagement
The top two questions, with the highest votes in the survey, were Q12 (Learn & Grow) and Q6 (Development). We conducted face to face meetings at four sites: VA, China Basin, SFGH, and Parnassus to generate and discuss ideas for specific things we could do to advance these areas. A total of 32 staff participated to share ideas and offer wonderful suggestions based on Q12 and Q6

Q12. This last year, I have had opportunities at work to learn and grow.
Improve communication about learning opportunities, open jobs/ positions in the department, and department funding support: managers, , newsletter Organization Chart with contact information Set up a chatter group to encourage more direct communication: ask a question, share an idea, Multiple announcements of departmental in-progress projects to keep the staff better informed. Develop criteria/guidelines on funding staff professional development and education: eligibility, funding allotment, approval process

Q12. This last year, I have had opportunities at work to learn and grow.
Develop an informal mentorship program within the department Work Shadowing for one day or ½ day to learn more about a position. Invite speakers to share their career paths taken at UCSF. Offer training sessions lead by department and campus experts. Topics: SmartSheet tips and tricks, PPT, PCard Reconciliation, Ledger Reconciliation, Time Management, Leading a team/group. Resume writing: one-on-one guidance Small group, interactive, resume writing workshop Offer assistance/training session on navigating the Learning Management System (LMS). Challenging to locate Development and Training courses on LMS.

Q6. Someone at work encourages my development.
Opportunities: Managers work with staff, more frequently, to identify staff member’s short and long-term goals Develop a check-in document to discuss and provide feedback on how to achieve goals; next steps; growth opportunities. The document will serve as a guide between manager and staff person. Quarterly or three times per year check-in meetings Staff leadership opportunities: after taking a class, share tips, pointers, strategies, etc., in a brown bag session.
