2 Description The artwork has a lot of very neutral colors like black and white. The title can tell you that it is a flower and is most likely zoomed in. It was also done in oils and the design is very unique and it has a lot of organic shapes. It doesn’t have much texture in it and the line shape is very smooth and wavy. It is very pretty and I like the way she zoomed in and painted it.

3 Analysis In the Black Iris I think that Black would be the dominant color and the focal point is the bottom of the flower because that is where all the black color is. The mood in this painting is almost sad to me because of all the black and grey color. The rhythm would have to start at the top and then the colors flow down to the bottom. The black, grey, and white colors create unity and balance out the painting very well.

4 Interpretation To me the Black Iris just flows and is beautiful. The colors she used were just excellent and the black and white contrast worked well together. It flows well together and I always loved how she zoomed in on one part of the flower and painted only that part of the flower so you could really see what it looks like and also how she saw the flower. It really is beautiful and I love how she painted it.

5 Judgement To me the artwork is a success. The way the lines flowed and came together from the top to bottom is beautiful. Also I love how she had the white and grey shading towards the top and towards the bottom its almost one solid color and there are a lot of very dark values. I think it is unique because it can be very hard to create a close-up of a flower and have so many values without making it boring. I do wish she added a bit more detail to it though.
