7 PHYSICAL PROGRESS Proposed: Completed Process Underway :
Design of piezometers/low diameter wells approved by CGWB Selection of wells in association with CGWB as one each in One Block. Requirement of computer and peripherals consolidated. Status of DWLR installed in previous projects examined by CWPRS team. Team constituted for digitization of available data VES etc. Demonstration for DWLR made. Process Underway : Permission from various departments for slim hole installations awaiting. Mobile applications for well census under process. Furnishing of district data centers, regional and state data centers. Proposed: Purchase of vehicles . * Computer and peripherals. * Purchase of DWLR’s * Lab Equipments KERALA GROUNDWATER DEPARTMENT

Impact on GW status due to pesticide residues in cardamom cultivating areas in Idukki Preliminary review of the project done by NIH and comments received. Location map under preparation. PDS V Management of Groundwater pumping for irrigation with special reference to calcified zones in Palakkad District Revised format prepared as specified by NIH. KERALA GROUNDWATER DEPARTMENT Other 4 PDS will be taken up in the next financial year.

10 Hydromet station status
No Items Status 1 Full Climatic stations 8 Nos available Preliminary inspection done by CWPRS officials. Renovation and future maintenance proposed through SW by handing over the same 2 Observation wells, Piezometers available 734 DWLR not functional, Manual observation continues. Possibility to repair the same is explored through CWPRS. 3 Open wells 359 Bore well 338 Tube well 37nos Manual Observation continues. 4 Decision taken with CGWB One observation well will be identified in each block and DWLR will be installed. 11 Status of state wris Major activities
1. Expand and upgrade water resources monitoring systems including automation with Real Time Data Acquisition System (DWLR Telemetry) decided to select one each in one block ( 152 Nos Proposed immediately) 2. Mobile application for well census - preliminary discussion with kesrc done and fields identified. 3. Upgrading/ procurement of IT equipments, requirement formulated. 4. Up gradation of DATA Processing Centre's, in progress. KERALA GROUNDWATER DEPARTMENT

13 Other issues Major issues Fill up the vacant positions in SPMU and in the project not Materialized. Possibility to include expenditure incurred for the construction of Regional Data Possessing Centre Ernakulam in the current PIP. Possibility for the construction of Regional Data Possessing Centre at Kozhikode. Engagement of Contract Staff for the implementation of the project – Guidelines to fix salary and allowances ? Accounts officer is senior finance officer deputed from finance department of government of Kerala ( Frequent Transfers) ------ KERALA GROUNDWATER DEPARTMENT

14 Way forward Major activities Planning to compensate the shortage of regular staff by appointing contract staff. Infrastructure of the department will be strengthened to progress the project as planned. Finance wing to be strengthened. Pursue with the government to fill up the vacant positions.
