Ken: In Summary throughout this past year the health & Safety department at the CHR have put in many hours of training preparation and conducted many hours of training for close to 1500 participants. 412 participants were trained at Black Lake 792 participants were trained at the Center of Human Resources 140 participants were trained by UNC for Industrial Hygiene Certification

Our largest class request are Fall Hazard Competent Inspector, Confined Space and CPR Remember that people are expected to attend scheduled courses once enrolled. NO shows have improved over the past couple of years. Please continue to do your best to attend class once registered. Please make appropriate notification if the need arises for you to cancel. Also remember that it is important to verify that people who attend training have completed required prerequisites (course work and medical evaluations if necessary) prior to sending trainers to the CHR for T-3 training 792 Registered Participants

We will be putting on Aerial Lift and Mobile Crane during the upcoming summer months. 621 Registered Participants

8 CHR Health & Safety Department Training 2017 Highlights
UNC Joint Industrial Hygiene Training: The week of April 24, the CHR hosted the final session of the University of North Carolina Industrial Hygiene Technician Certificate Program. 48 of our UAW-GM IH Technicians completed the 80 hour program. Ken Improving the skills of our joint IH Teams through the University of North Carolina at the CHR. Each IH participant was certified by the university.

Energy Control Safe Work Practice Workshops were conducted by our joint Teams at Ft. Wayne & Lordstown. The CHR sent a Joint Team to Flint Metal Center to conduct a LOCKOUT WORKSHOP and Safety Culture Assessment. Launch Support at Bowling Green Assembly: CHR sent a team of UAW G- Comply trainers to assist with the Red Tag Buyoff process for launch. Our joint Ergo. teams conducted a Ergonomic pilot program for the “Lumbar Motion Monitor” at Ft. Wayne Assembly to collect sprain and strain data. Rick The CHR has responded to plant request for all kinds of H&S issues. We have provided resources whenever possible for example: Energy Control Safe Work Practice Workshops were conducted by our joint Teams at Ft. Wayne & Lordstown. Other Deficiencies not Identified: Asbestos Crane/Hoist Inspection Ergonomics H&S Training Hazcom Lockout Material SS Operator Ins. Planned Maintenance Review of Tech Sanitation Sling/Below the Hook/ Rigging Stairs & Ladders Vehicle Planned Maintenance Rick For 2016 we completed 57 audits On this chart the red bar represents Needs Improvement and the green represents Repeat Needs Improvements. We have graphed the top 5 findings. Other areas of deficiencies in 2016 were Hazcom, Lockout, Material Storage and Stacking and other audit modules that need improvement. In past years Electrical Safety and Confined Space were the issues we now see significant improvement. Note: Based on 57 Audits reporting does not include CHR’ June 2,2017 cf:opeiu459aflico

Other Deficiencies not Identified: Aerial Lifts/Elevating Electrical Safety Elevator Inspection H&S Training Planned Maintenance Rail Car&Truck Review of Tech Sling/Below the Hook/ Rigging Welding/ Other Hot Work /Cutting Ken To date this year there have been 12 audits completed. We have identified 13 needs improvements during the 12 audits. However needs improvement are the not the only things we find during a audit. Our auditors find hundreds deficiencies during audits. The findings are tracked in a database that show before and after photographs. This is part of our joint audit teams coaching approach and sharing of best practices to improve the safety culture in all of our worksites. Highlighted are the top 3 findings of those audits. However, we have identified findings in Lockout, H&S training, elevator inspection, other audit modules that need improvement. It has been great to see this year we have seen improvement in Welding/Hot Work as well as Confined space (one of the Given) Remember as you continue to prepare for your upcoming audit we will be changing over to Performance Standards…… Note: Based on 12 Audits reporting does not include CHR’ June 2,2017 cf:opeiu459aflico
