Reception Class September 2016

2 Before September Visits to Pre-Schools/Nurseries or phone calls.
Children’s visits to school. Observations/talking to child. Transfer Forms Sheet- correct names. Ideas for ‘school readiness’. Tell us about any allergies/medical issues.

3 Visits to School Chance to become familiar with classroom and staff.
Take photos for pegs. Paint pictures for display. Once they have settled then try and leave.

4 September (more info in pack)
Part time start. Staff Helping develop independence- hanging coats up, book bags in the box etc. Settle your child at an activity then say goodbye. Let your child know who will be picking up. Let us know if it will be someone different. Check book bags for letters. Swimming Noticeboard Parking Worries

5 Reception Year Curriculum
Reception Class is the final year of the Foundation Stage Through ongoing assessment the learning needs of each child are identified. This assessment of each child’s individual needs forms the basis of our planning in the Reception class.

8 Assessment Baseline assessment in first half-term.
Settling in meeting. End of Year assessment. Assessment is with the parents and others working with the child. Parents’ contributions are very important. Parent/Teacher meetings are arranged twice a year and more informal chats can be arranged as and when needed. Assessment is mainly through observation of the child in different activities. All areas of learning and development are important and interconnected.
