Biography Born in Sheffield, England in 1952
Sound recordist specialising in natural history Works in TV and Radio Founding member of two influential experimental music groups; Cabaret Voltaire and The Halfer Trio Made and featured in a number of BBC radio and television programmes.

Accolades 1996- BAFTA Award for Best Factual Sound for ‘The Life of Birds’ 2000- Award Of Distinction for his Touch CD ‘Outside The Circle Of Fire’ 2006- Awarded an Honorary Doctor of Technology degree by the University of the West of England 2007- Watson devised the art project ‘Wild Song At Dawn’ at Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital FORMA Arts & Media commission Watson to create the multi channel sound installation ‘Whispering In The Leaves’ for the Palm House at London’s Kew Gardens 2010- Watson is invited to compose a soundtrack to John Constable’s ‘The Cornfield’ 2010- A commission by the British Film Institute to compose a soundtrack to the silent film ‘Underground’ 2012-Won the BPG ‘Radio Personality of the Year’ Award for ‘The Wire’.

Technique/style Chris Watson describes his approach to sound recording as ‘putting a microphone where you can’t put your ears’ Preferences: Prefers power to come from the recorder itself Uses Sennheiser HD25 headphones Techniques: He has a specific technique for setting up the ideal monitoring levels Uses limiters and low-pass filters
