2 Y’s Men/ Y Service Who Are We?

3 YMI Membership YMI is the most “international” of the service clubs in USA – we are 90% from outside North America while the next closest is about 45% outside NA One third of our members are in India One third of our members are in Asia and Korea One third of our members are in Europe, Africa, North and South America This large international component offers great benefits and some challenges

6 “The International Association of Y’s Men’s Clubs is a worldwide fellowship of persons of all faiths working together in mutual respect and affection, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, and with a common loyalty to the Young Men’s Christian Association, striving through active service to develop, encourage and provide leadership to build a better world for all mankind.”

7 Today, Y’s Men is indeed:
A worldwide organization Made up of people of all faiths Based on the Christian belief that we should care for others (a basic teaching found in all major faiths) Works with and in support of the YMCA Focused on doing service to make a better world

9 “To be a recognised, globally oriented, voluntary service organisation with a strong and committed membership that strives to enhance human values, with special focus on youth development, while upholding our motto “To acknowledge the Duty that Accompanies every Right” and working in active service and close partnership with the YMCA, the United Nations and other worthy organisations to build a better world in which to live .”

As of February 2017: membership is 25,173 63 countries Membership trend is stagnant or downwards Likely some new countries joining in the next few years Unlikely to meet this goal

23 MYM and IC small groups discuss YMI issues and set next steps towards solutions

24 IEOs meet at least monthly – either in person or on line to plan and address issues

Creation of Satellite Office in Asia Smaller and more efficient International Council Use of small groups to discuss big issues and plan next steps Increased communication at IEO leadership level

Depends on individual clubs but generally strong community service Service to YMCA varies depending on part of the world (with Africa and LAM being stronger and USA and CAC weaker)

Focus on achieving goals for 2022 and establishing goals for 5 – 10 years after 2022 Made up of PIPs and PICMs 6 key ISDs (E, MC, CS, LTOD, YIA, YL) – ex officio IEOs and ISG – ex officio
