Softball

2 Basics of Intramurals IM Handbook Eligibility Forfeit Fee
Requesting does not guarantee a reschedule, it will be handled on a case by case basis Must be UTTyler Student, Faculty, or Staff Forfeit Fee Sportsmanship $20 for team sport/$10 for dual or individual Team must maintain a 4.0 to be eligible for playoffs Availability Protests Must be filled out on imleagues prior to schedule release Must be submitted at game time Patriot Cup – Details listed on imleagues Scheduling and Conflicts Awards – T-Shirts awarded to Champions Request for game reschedule must be ed to 12 hours before game

3 Softball Basics 10 players in the field, but up to 12 may bat
Equipment (NO CLEATS!!!, Provide your own glove, Bats provided) 5 inning or 40 minute games. No new inning will start after 35 minutes. Umpire will make all timing decisions

4 Competition Setup Preseason (2 to 3 games) Postseason
Single Elimination Men’s, Women’s, and Co-Rec Divisions

5 Rules ASA rules will be used with the following Intramural adaptations
All Batters will start with a 1-1 count Batters will receive a courtesy foul, second foul ball on strike 2 is an out Each team is allowed 2 home runs per game All succeeding home runs are scored as an out Batter cannot step on plate while making contact with the ball Batter is out automatically

6 Rules cont. Pitcher must release ball while in contact with pitching rubber Pitch must have an arch between 6 foot and 12 foot (Umpire’s Discretion) Pitches call “Flat” or “High” are automatic balls, unless swung on (take result of swing) Balls/Strikes will be determined by the strike mat placed behind the plate Any legal pitch hitting the mat or the plate is a strike

7 Co-Rec Rules Male/Female alternating in batting order
10v10, Must have 8 to start Ratio must be 5:5, 5:4, or 4:4
