4 THE INDUS The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is offered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). The CIE is part of the Cambridge assessment group. It is the world’s largest provider of international education programmes for students aged between 5 – 19 years.

9 THE INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION [ICE]
The ICE is a group award of the IGCSE that requires the study of subjects drawn from 5 different IGCSE subject groups. To receive this certificate a student has to do at least 7 subjects by selecting 2 languages in Group 1, 1 each from Group 2 to Group 5. The 7th subject may be chosen from any one of Group 2 to Group 5

The ICE result is published in 3 levels; DISTINCTION – Grade A or above in 5 subjects and Grade C or above in 2 subjects MERIT - Grade C or above in 5 subjects and Grade F or above in 2 subjects PASS - Grade G or above in minimum 7 subjects

13 Assessment Formative assessment – Mid term examination, Monthly test, AFL Summative assessments – Half yearly examination and the Final Examination The Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the end of the course and can include written, oral, coursework and practical assessment. Oral examination – Second language Course work – Enterprise, Art, Practical examination – PE, Music, Computer science, ICT

14 Assessment (Contd) Cambridge IGCSE examination sessions occur thrice a year, in March, November and June. Results are issued in May, January and August respectively. Indus will have exams in the March and June series Grades are benchmarked Grades, which range from A* to G, have clear guidelines to explain the standard of achievement for each grade.

HW mailed to students and parents on a weekly basis & uploaded on SIMS Reiteration of what is taught Preparation for a new concept/ background reading

WHOLE EDUCATION PHYSICAL EDUCATION One period a week Students to select one sport that they pursue for the whole year LEADERSHIP CURRICULUM One lesson per week Focuses on; Goal Setting (academic, whole education and service goals) Persuasive Communication (TED programme) Leadership Journal to record progress Leadership Report Card Leadership Summit (Leadership Week) TED talk/ ILEAD recorded CREATIVITY, ACTIVITY and SERVICE [CAS] Aspects of CAS designed within the curriculum Students also pursue service projects in a group or in an individual capacity where they role model the core values of the school
