Vocabulary Recap Word Definition Visual Nomadic
Having no fixed home, moving from place to place according to seasons and availability of food and water. Aztec A Native American people that settled in the Valley of Mexico in the 1200s and later developed into a powerful empire. Anasazi A Native American group that lived on the mesa tops, cliff sides, and canyon bottoms of the Four Corners Region (present day Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah Meet) from about A.D. 100 to 1300.

Many people believe that this frozen land area allowed people to come into North America between Asia and Alaska. When the temperatures grew warmer, the big game died off, the land was filled with water, and the people stopped hunting big game.

North American Societies- the Hohokam and the Anasazi introduced crops into the deserts of the Southwest and had their own cultures -others: the Adena, the Hopewell, and the Missisippian -they did well at trading and building mounds as tombs and temples

Future slave trade Three powerful kingdoms: Songhai, Benin, Kongo Songhai: Ghana then Mali then Songhai -power and wealth from controlling the trans-Sahara trade -they taxed goods that passed through their land
