the risks of being a pedestrian on the road
Record Highs Why You Must Be Cautious When a vehicle is going 20 miles per hour, the fatality rate is at 5%. When the vehicle is going 40 miles per hour, the fatality rate is 85%. Consequences Of Hitting A Pedestrian If a motorist is at fault for a pedestrian who is in critical condition after an MVA, the motorist is subject to a $ fine, up to 25 days in jail, and/or a driving privilege suspension of up to 6 months

Pedestrian safety When stopping at an intersection, never block the crosswalk. Pedestrians are vulnerable when they are walking around the vehicle. Motorists should watch for signs indicating a school zone, play grounds, parks and bus stops. Children are unpredictable and can be severely hurt in a MVA.
5
Pedestrian safety Visually Challenged Persons
Remember to always be on the lookout for disabled/Mentally challenged people. Blind people will predominantly have a white or metallic cane or a guide dog and a motorist must stop when they see these signs and must stop. How Blind People Cross the Street

Truck Blind Spots Truck Tips You should always leave a space cushion behind a truck or bus when facing uphill, large vehicles tend to roll back when starting. The truck may also have to back up or swing wide to negotiate a turn. For example, a truck driver may have to swing wide to the left to make a right turn

Bikes, Motorcycles, Mopeds

Mopeds To obtain a moped license you need to be at least 15 years old, have a Basic License, Moped License, and/or a motorcycle license. A moped driver may not go over 25 mph, and have the same driving responsibilities of other motorists.
16
Bikes, Skateboards, inline skates
Bicycles, Skateboards, and Inline Skates New Jersey’s state law states that these riders have the same responsibility as the motorists on the road. Since these individuals are small in size, it may be hard to see them. A motorist should always leave plenty of room when following or passing a skateboarder, bicyclist or inline skaters.
17
Trains Railroad crossings can bring terrible situations. It is important to remember: If your vehicle is stuck on tracks, immediately get away from the tracks when a train is incoming. Trains move fast and cannot stop quickly. If the tracks are clear you much cross quickly to avoid getting stuck.
18
Motorcycles A Motorist's failure to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic is the most common cause of motorcycle collisions you should always: Watch for motorcycles at intersections. always leave plenty of room between an automobile and motorcycle. Never follow a motorcycle too closely. Motorcycles can brake within a shorter distance than other types of vehicles.
