Attendance and Tardy Process Attendance/Tardy Flow Chart Step 1 Teacher will make contact after 3 consecutive absences. Teacher will be sure to document date/time of contact and result of contact with parent. Teacher will make 1st contact for student tardy arrivals after 3. Teacher will make 1st contact for early dismissal students after students are signed out early 3 times. Step 2 Counselors will intervene once students reach 6 unexcused absences by making parent contact and home visits. Counselors will ensure attendance letters and teacher communication has been completed prior to intervention. Counselors will monitor and refer to administration if absences continue to increase. Counselors will get involved with tardy arrivals once it gets to 5 or when referred by a teacher. Counselors will intervene with early dismissals once 5 have been reached. Step 3 Once administration is notified, parents will be contacted and meetings scheduled for all parties involved. Contracts between the school and parents will then be made and implemented. Truancy packets will be created for students with excessive absences by the counselors. Once notified, administration will intervene for tardy students and excessive early dismissal students as well.
