Steindorf K-8 STEAM Magnet Opening August 2016 We talked about using an imagine of Growth…development. Maybe we talk about the ltree….. The tree’s strong roots are symbolic of our district’s strength and ability to grow and flourish over time.

Students: Increased growth in self-reliance Improved attitude toward learning Development of complex skills such as problem solving and critical thinking Teachers: Enhanced professionalism and collaboration among colleagues Improved relationships with students Easier to accommodate for diverse learners The research being done suggests improved benefits for both students and teachers who participate in Project based learning schools. Improved relationships with students- working in a strengths based model rather than a deficit model. Brain based research.

7 Staffing Update Certificated Hiring Process
Negotiated CDTA/District MOU Equal opportunities for all certificated Internal posting in December. All applicants will submit a letter of intent All internal applicants will be interviewed Required 5 day PD in the Summer with the Buck Institute of Education Identify a pool in February Secretary staring January 4th, 2016 Next Steps for Hiring Teachers will be hired based on enrollment from pool of internal applicants. Spring of 2016 Office staff Custodial Process- Meeting Dec. 7th – Steindorf Interest meeting for teachers Secretary hiring in process. Set to start Jan. 5th Demystifying the hiring process. Internal CDTA applicants follow contract language. There is a one year MOU for internal applicants. Required professional development/ Pool of people hired based on enrollment. Posting in Dec. and interviewing in Feb.

Small group table- Standing desk, round table
