Things written outside of the classroom help us to make connections to what we learn from a textbook and from a teacher in the classroom. Reading and writing - outside of the classroom- help us to build a better vocabulary and an understanding of Science - helping us to become better readers and writers. Writers, write differently in all subject areas Ex. Scientific writing is different than fictional writing; Historians write differently than religious scholars. Writing to entertain and inform is different than writing to educate, inform and persuade.
