Autocratic
Participative
Laissez-Faire

5. Autocratic Leadership
The leader makes most of the decisions and sets expectations for the followers
Pro: decisions can be made quickly
Con: followers may see the leader as ‘bossy’

6. Participative Leadership
Leader provides guidance and encourages group members to share their opinions
Greater contribution of ideas and creativity from the group
The leader may make decisions that are not in line with the thinking of some followers
Also referred to as democratic leadership.

7. Laissez-Faire Leadership
Also referred to as delegative leadership
The leader provides little or no guidance
The group members make the decisions
