Please meet at in front of Building CE5 to get your class schedule. Then we’ll take you to your classroom.
Full-time students meet at 8:30. Classes begin at 9:00.
OPU students meet at 9:30. Classes begin at 10:00.

4. Monday, September 25, 10:00 – 1:00: All CC classes will go to the UCI Involvement Fair. (9:00 classes will still meet.)

5. Institutional TOEFL Test
Paper and pencil test.

6. Class Schedule (Monday-Friday) 9:00-9: Pronunciation/Vocabulary OR Business English Writing 10:00-11: Speaking/Listening 11:30-12: American Culture

7. Optional Group Tutoring Time
Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00-1:50
UCI ESL teachers are there to help you with questions, assignments, or just to practice conversation.
Attendance is optional. We don’t take attendance.

8. Our program has six levels, with letters as names
Our program has six levels, with letters as names. Level A: Beginning Level B: High beginning Level C: Low intermediate Level D: Intermediate Level E: High intermediate Level F: Advanced

9. Placement Today you will take a test to decide your level
Placement Today you will take a test to decide your level. The test has 100 questions about listening, grammar, vocabulary, and reading.

10. Grading: Your classes receive letter grades. A = 90%-100% B = 80%-89%
Failing = below 73%
D = 60% - 72%
F = < 60%

11. Textbooks You will need textbooks for most classes.
The names of the books will be on your class schedule.
You can buy your books at the UCI Bookstore.

12. Attendance Policy Please attend class every day so that…
You will learn as much as possible.
You won’t have any visa problems.
You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

If you miss more than 14 total hours of morning classes…
You will not receive a certificate of completion.
You may be dismissed from the program.

14. Lateness Policy Less than 10 minutes late = Tardy
11+ minutes late = 1 hour absence
3 Tardies = I hour absence

Your class hours must be less than 17 hours total per week (not including optional group tutoring)

If you’re a part-time student with a university group, your classes are already arranged. You don’t need to talk to me.
