Challenges related to attracting female candidates, especially for PhD programmes Suggested Solutions (top 1-2 practical solutions ) Aggressive marketing strategies to attract female graduates at bachelor level for MSc programme, including strong collaboration with local and regional universities Special offers for female candidates e.g. selection criteria but without compromising quality

4 ACE Host University Related Challenges
Top 2 – 3 Challenges Lack of regional accreditation body, meaning one aspect of the DLI/R on programme accreditation may not be realized There may be lack of ownership of the project (programme and students) at the university level (mentioned for Ethiopia) Low motivation due to lack of incentives for core team members, academic, and administrative staff Lengthy procurement/financial approval process likely to cause delays

Lack of regional accreditation body, meaning one aspect of the DLI/R on programme accreditation may not be realized Suggested Solutions (top 1-2 practical solutions ) Identify the requirement for regional accreditation body to be put in place Facilitate RSC/RFU to strengthen their capacity for international accreditation. RSC could look at this as one of the focal areas for RFU. ACEs to workout information for accreditation at international level in their field of specialisation

Top 2 – 3 Challenges Long process for acquisition of work and research permits for exchange students and staff in the network (only for Tanzania)

Long process in the acquisition of work and research permits for exchange students and staff in the network (only for Tanzania) Suggested Solutions (top 1-2 practical solutions ) Effective planning of mobility and timely submission of the work and research permit applications for approval Coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education, NSC, COSTECH, Immigration. Including possible presentations.
