Similarities in the two miracles Both were third day miracles Both contain an initial rebuke Jesus performs the miracle at a distance Servants possess unique knowledge People believe because of miracles Difference in the two miracles First – joy, celebration, happiness Second – desperation, anxiety, tragedy

Motivation for Galilee Joy in great happiness and sorrow Growth in faith Our status in life does not eliminate sorrow Nobleman comes in simple faith Believes Jesus at His word Whole family become believers

Motivation of a Miracle Believing is seeing Luke 4:48 The world says “seeing is believing” Spiritually, Jesus says it is reversed Nobleman believed so much he picked up where he left off and went on

Application What motivates your life? Is there joy in your happiness and your sorrows because Jesus is master of and in both? Do you trust Jesus enough to allow Him to operate in whatever way He chooses? Do you really believe so you can really see?
