Summary Timothy Paul Cronan, C. Bryan Foltz,Thomas W. Jones present an article on the growing impact of: misused computer software computer crimes 34% percent admit to committing some form of software misuse or piracy 22% admit to committing data misuse during their lifetimes.

Summary Data misuse means accessing, modifying, or copying data stored on a computerized information system without authorization. Campus networks are becoming "an alluring target for hackers" and, possibly, terrorists Student majors such as CIS, tend to commit more misuse than others. Males commit more misuse than females Individuals in their twenties and thirties report more misuse than other age groups.

The relation of computer ethics to the misuse of software & computer crime includes: copyrighted contents without author’s approval privacy concerns downloading illegally (piracy)

Opinion The article had too many statistics and numbers.
It was informative about data misuse. It had helpful charts to show the statistics. We learned a lot about what people misuse data and commit crime on the computer.

Questions 1. Are males or females more likely to misuse computers?
2. Are people who are experience with computers more likely to misuse computers or people who are not experienced? 3. What major is most likely to commit computer crimes?
