CGPS Presentation CGPS Mandate Develop, revise and approve the regulations, guidelines and policies on graduate and postdoctoral studies and so recommend to Senate following consultation with the relevant disciplinary faculties; Participate in strategic planning for initiatives to promote and enhance graduate and postdoctoral studies; Review and approve proposals for the creation of new graduate programs

CGPS Presentation CGPS Presentation Composition of Membership Faculty representatives are appointed for a 3-year term Members are appointed by Faculty Dean Dean of GPS: Chair 20 academic members 8 graduate students 1 postdoctoral fellow Executive Chairperson of PGSS Representative from Libraries Associate Dean(s) of GPS, with voices but no votes Vice-Principal (Research and International Relations) or designate Director of GPS, with voice but not vote Academic members 3 each from Faculties of Arts, Science, and Medicine 2 each from Faculties of AES, Education, and Engineering 1 each from Faculties of Dentistry, Law, Management, Music and Religious Studies

Change to Approval Pathway
CGPS Presentation CGPS Presentation Change to Approval Pathway In May, 2015, the Chairs of CGPS and SCTP approved a revised approval process for graduate-level course and program proposals Effective Sept. 1, 2015, all graduate-level course and program proposals will go to GPS prior to SCTP/ES review and approval This does not apply to 500-level courses Questions?
