...a battle that pits our spirit against our flesh
We are in a battle! ...a battle that pits our spirit against our flesh
3
Rom. 7:21 I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. v. 15b - ...I am doing the very thing I hate.
4
Where are the battle lines drawn?
Between the flesh... Gal. 5:19-21 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
5
Where are the battle lines drawn?
Between the flesh...and the spirit Gal. 5:22-24 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
6
In which camp do we stand?
Rom. 8:9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you Gal. 5:16-17 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
