836 dead, 6,665 injured, 80,885 displaced. Displaced gathering near Surakarta City. Concern over roadway access to Adisumarmo Airport. Review of evacuation plans if a Mount Merapi eruption. Not affected directed by PTSA accident.

Central Java: Klaten Regency as of 21 April 2017
1,016 dead, 8,094 injured, 98,228 displaced. Displaced gathering in Klaten City or moving towards Yogyakarta City. Emphasis on opening Nasional 15 Highway. Review of evacuation plans if a Mount Merapi eruption. Not affected directly by PTSA accident.

Central Java: Magelang Regency as of 21 April 2017
106 dead, 847 injured, 10,277 displaced. Displaced gathering in Magelang and Mutilan cities, or moving south on Nasional 14 Highway to Yogyakarta City. Review of evacuation plans if Mount Merapi erupts, concern over damage to Nasional 14 Highway. Not affected directly by PTSA accident; concern over possible wind-blown, radiation particles reaching regency.

Central Java: Purworejo Regency as of 21 April 2017
625 dead, 4,981 injured, 60,449 displaced. Displaced gathering in Purworejo City; coastal residents not returning to homes due to aftershocks. Emphasis on reopening Jalan Goa- Kiskendo, Bagelaen-Clamgkrep, Purworejo-Wates and Deandels Highways. Review of evacuee reception plans if Mount Merapi erupts. Not affected directly by PTSA accident.

DIY: Yogyakarta City as of 21 April 2017
359 dead, 2,859 injured, 34,692 displaced. Assessing displaced persons settlement sites. Emphasis on reopening Nasional 3 and Nasional 15 highways. Review of evacuation and receipt of evacuee plans if Mount Merapi erupts. Yogyakarta City is outside of the 2 km mandatory evacuation zone. Reviewing evacuation plans for mandatory 3 km and voluntary 5 km evacuation zones.

Earthquake epicentre. 841 dead, 6,705 injured, 81,368 displaced. Displaced traveling towards Yogyakarta City. Coastal communities not returning home. Emphasis on reopening roadways running towards Yogyakarta City. Reviewing evacuee reception plans if Mount Merapi erupts. Affected by 2 km and 3 km PTSA evacuation zones; reviewing 3 km and 5 km evacuation zone plans.

Response Priorities as of 21 April 2017
Potable water & water treatment supplies. Emergency food assistance. Shelter materials, temporary housing facilities and organized / supported displaced persons settlements. Medical supplies, especially for trauma / crush injuries, water-borne diseases and radiation sickness. No need for foreign medical personnel or field hospitals. Transportation / logistics assistance to remote or inaccessible areas. Reopening of major highways damaged in the earthquake, especially from Adisupjipto and Adisumarmo airports to populated areas. Reopening of the railway line through the affected area. Repair of damage to Adisutjipto International Airport. Warehouse space near logistics hubs.

Threats as of 21 April 2017 Continued aftershocks – Most intense recorded at 5.2 MW. Hampering response efforts. Coastal residents fear possible aftershock-generated tsunami. Continued instability of Mount Merapi volcano. Pilots advised to exercise caution relative to Mount Merapi ash cloud. May require elevating alert to Alert 3 – Code Orange and possible evacuation. Continued radiation leak at PTSA. Current 2 km mandatory / 3 km voluntary evacuation radii. Potential increase of radii to 3 km mandatory / 5 km voluntary. No cases of radiation sickness symptoms reported.
