5. Syllabus Course Introduction:
The goal of this class is to help prepare you for life after high school. Economics is part of your daily life in more ways than you realize. In fact, it is quite possible that you exercise Economics multiple times a day!
On a personal level, this class aims to show you how important it is to invest in some sort of education, as well as your own skills. You will also learn how to make smart, resourceful decisions regarding your everyday life or professional career.
On a national and global level, you will gain an understanding of how economics influences the decisions of world leaders and the interactions between international powers and thus learn how those decisions and interactions affect you. (source from Ms. Susbilla, SSGS teacher)

10. Syllabus
Grading Policies: There are two categories in which a student is assessed: practice and performance. Each category is weighted.
Items such as class work, homework, notebook and formative assessments are considered practice and account for 30% of the class grade.
Projects, quizzes/tests and are considered performance and account for 70% of the class grade

Make-Up Work Due to Absence: It is your responsibility to get and complete all work that you may have missed during your absence from school.
Check the appropriate area in class for your missed work. You may also check the webpage for the work you missed during your absence.

13. Syllabus
Classroom Maintenance: Liquids in a contained bottle will be permitted. Before dismissal, please place trash in the trashcan and return books and other materials to their appropriate places.
Hall Passes: Only two students will be allowed to leave the room at any given time to use the restroom. Each student must carry the pass and sign in/out on the clipboard upon returning/leaving.
Do not ask to leave class during the first 15 minutes of class or the last 15 minutes of class.

14. Syllabus Electronic Devices:
Cell phones are to be put away always while inside the classroom unless for educational activities. Once a student completes the warm up, they will place their phone in their assigned numbered pocket.
Although we fully recognize that technology is an excellent conduit to learning, we have also witnessed students struggle trying to navigate the proper use of their cell phones.

15. Syllabus Assignments:
Homework and other assignments assigned to students are important and are to emphasize material learned in class that day. Unless otherwise specified, all assignments are due at the beginning of the class on the due date.

16. Syllabus Assignments Continued:
Completing assignments on time helps to keep you prepared for quizzes and tests. World History & Geography I material and concepts build upon on each other. If you constantly turn in work after due dates, it could lead to getting behind in the course.
Late work for formative assignments will be accepted until 1 week before the quarter ends for half credit.
Late work will not be accepted on summative assignments unless because of emergency situations (these will be addressed on a case by case basis).

17. Syllabus Assignments Continued:
Mercy Passes: Students get 2 mercy passes during the nine weeks period. They may use a mercy pass for a formative assignment that they receive a 0 or 1/2 credit as a grade.
They must complete the assignment, and turn in the mercy pass with the assignment. Students will receive full credit for the assignment once they complete these steps.  
Students who complete all formative assignments during the nine weeks may use the 2 mercy passes for extra credit.

18. Syllabus Remediation:
Any student may do corrections on all quizzes and tests to help show mastery of the content for half credit back on all corrections. Students can come before school or during their study hall to make corrections by appointment
