Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Koby Limbach’s Visual Presentation

What about the hype? This book definitely lived up to the hype. It was full of constant twists and turns, and added a feeling of secretiveness and underlying deceit that the previous books in the series did not have. Harry has grown up more, and began to look at his situation in a new light. There is an added interest due to this new factor.

The Plot Part 1 Harry is spending his summer the same as all the previous ones, with his dreadful aunt, uncle, and cousin. One night, he has to use magic to defend himself and his cousin. Due to the fact he uses magic outside of school, he is temporarily expelled from Hogwarts.

Part 2 Once he is expelled, he is visited by a group of wizards who are friends with his godfather. They whisk him off to his godfather’s house, which is also now being used as the headquarters for a secret group called the Order of the Phoenix

Part 3 Once he discovers that his two best friends have already been there for several months, but never told him anything, he becomes very upset and bitter about it, which eventually leads to future trouble. He eventually attends a trial to determine his fate, where he is cleared of the charges thanks to Professor Dumbledore.

Part 4 Harry, Ron, and Hermione eventually return to Hogwarts to begin their 5th year. Throughout it there will be new friends made, new enemies as well, and twists and turns around every corner. Harry reevaluates things he thought he knew, and learns some things he wish he hadn’t. At the end of it all, a very dear acquaintance of Harry’s dies in a final showdown. Who is this? Read the book, and find out!

Rating I give this book a rating of 4.5, due to its brilliant weaving of fantasy into a realistic format, constant plot twists, and full of action and adventure. It would have been a 5, but while Harry’s new rethinking adds a twist to the story, it also adds a lot of unwanted drama to the book that it could easily do without. It does add a new factor to the story, but perhaps this factor could play a smaller role in the story.

Who should read it? Anyone interested in fantasy and magic and realistic fiction would enjoy this book. J.K. Rowling does an amazing job of taking the Wizarding World and merging it directly into modern-day London, England. This book has enough action and adventure that anyone interested in that genre of books will be just as interested in this book as fans of such fantasy books as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Overall, this book has the ability to appeal to anyone interested in any genre of fiction books, and I would recommend it to anyone.
