What is a cystoscopy ? examine the bladder look at the inside of the
urinary tract

bladder the 2 ureters urethra or urinary channel

Why is a cystoscopy done ?
remove tissue find reason for blood in the urine treat or remove tumors place a catheter

What are the risks ? men have pain or swelling in the balls
inability to urinate weakens the voiding muscels

Symptoms which are normal after a cystoscopy
burning with urination blood in the urine

The preparation anesthesia local anesthesia empty the bladder
not allowed to drink /eat something local anesthesia no time limit for drinking/eating empty the bladder

During the procedure washing the perineum
cystoscope is lubricated and inserted into the urethra bladder is drained and filed with sterile water when finished , fluid is drained from the bladder

After the procedure rest 24 houres after the cystoscopy

How it feels? full anesthetic: local anesthetic: you feel nothing
you feel a burning sensation or an urge to urinate
