1 THE CATALOG ORDERING PROCESS UNDER THE OUTSOURCING DESKTOP INITIATIVE FOR NASA (ODIN)

2 ODIN What is ODIN? The Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA
7 Fixed-price indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity GWAC contracts ODIN is the acronym for the Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA. The ODIN contracts are procurement vehicles that were awarded by and administered by Karen Smith at the Goddard Space Flight Center. These contracts were established to provide Information Technology services to NASA Centers. The following Centers have awarded Delivery Orders to ODIN Contractors to provide IT services to their respective Centers: GSFC, JSC. These services are provided to those people who have subscribed to the ODIN services. These services include, but are not limited to, maintenance of desktop systems, which includes both hardware and software, repair or replacement of obsolete desktop systems, an online catalog of hardware and software available for purchase by ODIN users. The GSFC selected IIS as the contractor to perform its services. The period of performance for Goddard’s delivery order expires Nov. 30, 2001. The 7 ODIN contracts expire on November 30, 2007.

3 MY OBJECTIVE: To provide Code 211 personnel with a general understanding of the catalog ordering process using the ODIN contract

4 The ODIN Catalog What is it?
a purchasing tool to provide enhancements to a seat Where is it? How to use it? The ODIN catalog is an on-line purchasing tool which enables a subscriber to purchase enhancements and augmentations to their seat. How to use it? .

5 How Do You Use It? Determine requirement Go to the website or
Call catalog administrator Get pricing information Verify funding availability Initiate a Purchase Request (PR) Process PR and award Item is delivered and installed Requestor determines the need for an enhancement to his/her seat Then the requestor checks to see if the item is available through the catalog, either through the catalog website or through the communications with the ODIN catalog administrator, Ms. Kathy Mietus. If the item is not found in the catalog, they can contact, Ms. Kathy Mietus, to see if it can be purchased through the catalog. Can be added. Memory items can not be found in the catalog, but can be purchase through the catalog by filling out an on-line memory request form found at the website or made directly through Ms. Mietus. Once a purchase request is received by procurement, a delivery order against the master contract is issued for the catalog items. The turnaround time for processing these requests is typically 1 to 2 days. Upon issuance of the delivery order, copies of the orders are faxed to Ms. Kathy Mietus and Ms. Toni Harmon (ODIN Contract Manager) and originals are sent through the mail to Ms. Harmon. Intellisource has 10 working days from the date of issuance of the order to fill the order. Intellisource then contacts the requestor to schedule a time to install the item on their system.

6 Initiate A Purchase Request
Initiator logs into SPS At the Welcome Menu, enter option 1 (PR Processing) At the PR Processing Menu, enter option 1 to initiate a PR EZ or option 3 to initiate a PR by direct entry The initiator of the purchase request uses the Small Purchase System (SPS) to initiate his/her requirement for a catalog item. This process in SPS is exactly the same as would be for any other type of requirement done using SPS: The following information must be included in the purchase request: description of item being requested, IIS part number of item requested (also referred to as the catalog SKU number), and the equipment control number (ecn) or IIS property tag number on the system the item is being requested for (Intellisource requires this number to ensure proper tracking of the hardware and software that are configured to each desktop or laptop system). The PR keyword selected MUST be ODIN to ensure proper routing of the PR.
