2 Red Scare The fear that communists both outside and inside America were working to destroy American life.

3 Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were accused of being spies for the Soviet Union
Alger Hiss was a government official who passed on information on the atomic bomb to the Russians

4 After the trials of Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs, citizens and government officials began to panic.
Many producers, writers, and directors were targeted and were blacklisted as communists and had their careers ruined
