Words in Spanish has a gender: masculine or feminine. El cuaderno El profesor El escritorio La pizarra El libro La puerta

3 Gender Agreement Adjectives describe nouns.
Ex: the fast car, the red dress, the happy girl. Adjectives that end in -o are masculine. The feminine singular is formed by changing the -o to -a. The plural is formed by adding -s to the singular forms.

4 Gender Agreement Adjectives that end in -e or a consonant such l, r or n have the same masculine and feminine forms. If it ends in a vowel add S If it ends in a consonant add ES

5 Gender Agreement ADJECTIVE AFTER!!!!
In English, you say “the red shirt.” In Spanish, you say “The shirt red” La camisa roja. Put the adjective AFTER the noun. (This is almost always the rule in Spanish) ADJECTIVE AFTER!!!!

6 Gender Agreement (pg 59) Your turn! Describe the following:
The yellow dress= El vestido amarillo 2.The red shirts (camisas)._______________ 3.The blue skirt (falda). ___________________ The blonde (rubia) girl. _______________ 5. The orange pants (pantalones). _________

7 Gender Agreement Using SER to describe something:
You can use “ser” plus the adjective to describe a noun. Remember, you use “es” for one object, “son” for more than one. The shirt is red = La camisa es roja. The shoes are black = Los zapatos son negros.

8 Gender Agreement (pg 59) The dress (vestido) is white.
___El vestido es blanco.__ 2. The shirts (camisas) are blue. ____Las camisas son azules.___ 3. The skirt (falda) is red. ___La falda es roja.___ The sweater is purple. __El suéter es morado.____ The pants (pantalones) are orange. ____Los pantalones son anaranjados.___

A brown jacket. __________________________ 2. Some white skirts. ____________________ 3. A green hat. 4. Some orange pants. ______________________

10 Gender Agreement (pg 59) Mix-up! Try these with a partner:
The sweater is white. The girl is hard-working. The teacher (m) is boring. The blue pants. The jacket is purple. Some yellow sweaters.
