Theory of Action
If we create a unifying vision of instructional excellence for our schools,
define the behaviors we believe will lead to success in schools
and provide the necessary supports from our teams,
then, staff efficacy and student achievement will increase.
Our district has a new mission (why we exist) and a new vision (what we want to accomplish).
And now, aligning to these, we have three specific Key Priorities for our system:
High impact instruction
Data Driven Decisions
Collaborative Culture
We are moving from our previous broad areas of focus and narrowing to a specific theory of action for our system.
(see the theory of action on the bottom of the slide)
The work within this theory of action was generated based on successes from our previous work, data from TNTP, research on highly effective schools and systems and stakeholder feedback.

12. Definitions Bystander: a person present but not involved
Distract: Something you can do if you don’t want to address the situation directly but you want to do something about it
Delegate: If you don’t feel comfortable doing something about the situation find someone who can help
Direct: Doing something or saying something yourself.

13. Distract “Dude, have you seen the new Guardian’s of the Galaxy movie?”
“Hey, what did you get on your math test?”
Run into a pole (use only in distraction emergencies)
“Oh hey, (insert persons name here), I really like that shirt your wearing where did you get it”

14. Delegate Get a teacher and tell them what's going on.
Tell your parents
Ask a trusted adult of what you can do

15. Direct Ask the person if they are okay
Tell the person who is doing something bad that it isn’t cool
