3 Volume July 2018 Volume is the three dimensional space that an object occupies. Volume is measured in mm3, cm3 and m3. What does a m3 look like? Estimate how many Year 7 pupils can fit into 1 m3

4 Volume 21 July 2018 1cm3 = 1ml 1000 cm3 = 1000 ml = 1 litre or 10dm3
(a dm is 10cm)

5 Volume July 2018 We can use a measuring cylinder or eureka can to measure the volume of irregular objects. We need to read the volume at the start (from the bottom of the meniscus) and the volume at the end (from the bottom of the meniscus)

9 Volume July 2018 Conclusion As the object is lowered into the water, it pushes water out of the way. The volume of the object is the same as the volume of water it displaces. The largest volume I measured was……The smallest volume I measured was……

10 Volume July 2018 Now we are going to use a measuring cylinder and a displacement can. First the can is filled until it is full to the spout (so if anymore water is added it overflows down the spout) Check the measuring cylinder is empty Then add the object and collect the volume of the water which his equal to the volume of the object.
