There are 13 Data Elements that have been modified. Most modification were made to allow an increased dollar amount to be reported. Other modification were made to the description. There are new 43 Data Elements

Interpreting the FY 2018 Data Requirements
Provide data for all students enrolled in the academic year who: Were awarded financial assistance including federal aid, state aid, merit aid, exemptions or waivers. Completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), regardless if financial assistance was awarded. Did not apply for aid but received an Exemption or Waiver Did not apply for aid but was issued a merit scholarship Applied for aid and did not receive assistance Applied for aid and received assistance Applied for aid and did not receive assistance; or did not accept the award

Restricted funding is limited to a specific cohort of students based on specific requirements (e.g. Math Teacher Scholarship). Unrestricted funding has no specific requirements and can be awarded to any student. Grants/Scholarships Funded Through Restricted Funding Sources. Enter the amount of restricted aid (excluding athletic grants/scholarships) the student received through the institution or private donations in the form of grants and scholarships that are not reported elsewhere. Enter five zeros “00000” if not applicable. Grants/Scholarships Funded Through Unrestricted Funding Sources. Enter the amount of unrestricted aid (excluding athletic grants/scholarships) the student received through the institution or private donations in the form of grants and scholarships that are not reported elsewhere. Data Element # 97 Selective Service
Report “0” if student is a female, is a male under the age of 18 or is a male older than 25 Report “1” if male between the age of and FAFSA/TASFA = Y Report “2” if male between the age of and FAFSA/TASFA = N Selective Service Registration. Enter the code (0-2) that identifies the student’s Selective Service Status: 0 = Not Applicable, Unknown or Exempt 1 = Student is a male between the age of and is registered for Selective Service 2 = Student is a male between the age of and is not registered for Selective Service NOTE: Males between the age of 18 and 25 must register with Selective Service in order to qualify for any type of state aid (regardless of residency status). Data Element # 106 FAFSA Date
The first date the ISIR was processed regardless of when the student was awarded or completed the financial aid file. Date of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). Enter the first ISIR date or the date the TASFA application was first submitted. Data Element # 99 – 102 Attempted hours
Reported ENROLLMENT STATUS is affected by reported ATTEMPTED HOURS. Attempted Hours Fall Semester. Spring Semester. Summer Semester. Total Cumulative Attempted Hours. Enter the cumulative total number of hours the student attempted. For this purpose, attempted hours is defined as every course in every semester, including but not limited to, repeated courses and courses the student drops and from which the student withdraws and transfer credit hours accepted by the institution. Data Element # 107 – 109 Tuition and Fees
Enter the total statutory plus designated tuition and mandatory fees for each individual term: Statutory Tuition: An amount of tuition set in statute that institutions must charge resident or nonresident undergraduate students Designated Tuition: an additional tuition charge that the governing board of the institution considers necessary for the effective operation of the institution. This rate varies by institution. Total Tuition and Mandatory Fees Fall Spring Summer Enter the total amount of statutory tuition plus designated tuition and mandatory fees charged (including any adjustments) in the reporting period. Data Element # 107 – 109 Tuition and Fees FAD Item Total Tuition and Mandatory Fees for Fall or Spring or Summer – So what is this used for? For each individual term and how are mandatory fees identified? This data will be used in our annual Financial Aid report as well as for compliance for TEXAS Grant and TEOG which require institutions to cover the cost of tuition and required fees in excess of the TEXAS Grant or TEOG award amount with funding. The tuition and fees are for each individual term and mandatory fees will depend on the institution on what they charge each student (e.g. library, internet, certain program fees).

Data Element # 110 – 113 Satisfactory Academic Progress
Toward EXcellence, Access, & Success (TEXAS) Grant Texas Educational Opportunity Grant (TEOG) Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG) Top Ten Percent (Top 10%) Scholarship Enter the code (0-3) that identifies if the recipient is meeting SAP requirements at the end of the award period for a continuation award. Enter “3” if the recipient is being reported on the FADs First Reporting Cycle. 0 = Not a Award Recipient 1 = Yes 2 = No 3 = First Reporting Cycle Although SAP is reported on both the 2nd and 3rd reporting cycles. The SAP Data submitted in the 3rd reporting cycle is not verified against the data validated in the 2nd reporting cycle. Data Element # 110 – 113 Satisfactory Academic Progress
