Electromagnets
2
What are electromagnets?
Electromagnets are magnets which are generated by electricity, they are very useful and can be found almost Everywhere.
3
Some of the uses of electro magnets:
4
Electric bells,
5
How electric bells work
When the bell switch is pressed, it completes the circuit. So the electromagnet becomes magnetised and is attracted to a piece of iron, which then hits the bell. Because the piece of iron has moved it has broken the circuit so it moves back. When it moves back it completes the circuit again and so carries on ringing the bell like this until the switch is released.
6
Loud speakers.
7
How loud speakers work When things vibrate or shake about they make noise, so a loud speaker is amplifying the sound, the electro magnet attracts and then repels the speaker cone. This makes it make the noise that you hear.
8
Lifting magnets,
9
How lifting magnets work
Lifting magnets work having electricity as there source of magnetism. When you turn one on it magnetizes and when you turn one of it de-magnetizes that’s the how they lift metal up and then after moving it drop it.
10
How they work An electro magnet uses electricity to make magnetism. When ever a flow of electricity known as a electric current passes along a wire this makes an electric field around the wire. It happens because electricity is the movement along the wire of the tiny parts of atoms called electrons. In a permanent magnet the magnetic force comes from the spinning and orbits of the electrons within there atoms.
