Why are we here ? Forging Links with Malaysian Manufacturers In General With UNMC Increasing awareness about Sustainable manufacturing issues Invitation to participate in the activities of the centre for Sustainability in Global Manufacturing - SGM
4
What is Sustainable Manufacturing?
Manufacturing Methods and systems that minimizes waste and pollution through product, process and system design. It is a Philosophy not a standard.
5
Sustainable manufacturing
Development of innovative manufacturing technologies and systems which address world wide resources shortages and excess environmental load to enable an environmentally benign life cycle. Energy Efficient manufacturing technology for improving efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint in energy utilisation for manufacturing and operational processes. Closing the product information loops (Design, Reuse, Remanufacture, Recycle, Disposal) to improve Product life cycle management.

7
Why Sustainable Manufacturing?
Industry is under increasing pressure from customers, investors, employees, legislators, financial institutions to embrace social and environmental responsibility. In 2004 the business sector shouldered 65% of environmental regulatory costs, with manufacturers paying an average of $4,850 per employee. (Small Business Administration report ) Every company should work to conserve natural resources for future generations
