Antisana Antisana is a stratovolcano. Antisana volcano is right in the Eastern Cordillera, at the latitude where the volcanic chain is widest. Antisana is a Quaternary stratovolcano built in at least two phases. The southeastern portion is the older part of the volcano, which covers two-thirds of it. It is made of a lot volcanic breccia deposits, lava and pyroclastic flows. This area of the volcano has been reshaped by glaciers. Activity at the old volcano finished with two explosive eruptions which formed the eastern and southern calderas.
4
Antisana The northwestern area of the Antisana, making one-third of the volcano is a younger, regular cone-shaped edifice. This region contains many lava flows which were erupted from the summit.
5
Origin of Antisana I predict (Mr. Berg says) that if I couldn’t find the origin of my name, that I didn’t have to do it. And he wont count off points! Yay!
6
Fun Facts Antisana has erupted twice in its time so far. Once in 1590 and once again from That’s a long eruption! Another fact is that Antisana is covered by a giant glacier! Isn’t that cool!
