Powered hydraulic disk brakes on the rotational axes of the shoulder and elbow can apply controlled resistance torques. Additional translating degrees of freedom at the shoulder and elbow self-align the exoskeleton axes to the anatomical axes, and allow full freedom of translation of the shoulder.
