Mrs. Pirro’s 2nd grade class

2 A Little About Me Wonderful husband, Michael of 38 years.
Two awesome sons, Vince and Nick, and a new daughter in law, Emily! Pug, Coco Was an LPN and decided at 40 yrs. old to go back to school and become a teacher. Did my student teaching here at Frey, and have been here ever since – 16 years, teaching 2nd and 3rd grades.

Make Good Choices House System Students will have daily opportunities to earn points for their houses based on the seven letters of A.I.M. H.I.G.H.

5 Classroom Student Expectations
Aim High and earn Dojo points for his/her house. Listen and follow directions the 1st time. Keep hands, feet, and belongings to myself. Work quietly and not distract other students. Raise a hand to speak or leave my seat. Respect school property and other people’s property.

Graded Work Standards Based Report Card Examples…1, 2, 3 or 18/20 (Reading Level) 3 Proficient –consistent and independent 2 Basic Understanding 1 Minimal Understanding May also be marked …… Checked Together (CT) Guided Lesson (GL) Independent (I) Teacher’s Assisted (TA) Not all papers are graded, but are used to drive instruction 3+‘s will only be awarded to those students who go above and beyond daily expectations consistently in the classroom.

9 Homework Please make sure to check over your child’s homework to ensure accuracy. Homework is not busy work, but a chance for you and your child to communicate about skills being taught here at school. Always keep homework in the homework section of your child’s binder. Homework is your child’s responsibility. Homework should ALWAYS be neat, complete, & have your child’s name on it! Expected Math Facts to 20 Practice for weekly computation test Nightly Reading minutes – We are building stamina!

10 Lunch/Specials LUNCH SPECIALS Daily from 12:25 – 1:10 Monday – PE
Served Daily 11:22 – 11:47 $2.25 for students/$3.50 for guests No fast food please Extras available for a small charge Visitors are welcome to join their child, just sign in at the front desk and meet us at the bench. You can eat with your child in the Annex. Daily from 12:25 – 1:10 Monday – PE Tuesday – Art Wednesday – PE Thursday – Technology Friday – Music For safety purposes, tennis shoes MUST be worn on PE days.

11 Other Information Our room moms this year – Ginny Young, Jackie Kelley, and Sarah Kimpel Healthy snack time around 9:30 Birthday treats served at lunch or snack time (No food allergies this year) Transportation changes in writing only or fax to the office. I can not take changes, and I might not see them until AFTER dismissal. Additional information in the Learning Commons until 7:45 for PTA and Foundation opportunities along with Spirit Wear on sale.
