-The water vapor in the air (invisible)
What is humidity? -The water vapor in the air (invisible)
4
What is specific humidity?
- The actual amount of water vapor in the air. Measured in GRAMS/Meter3
5
capacity! - Capacity is how much water vapor the air can hold.
Warm air can hold more vapor than cold air!
6
Relative humidity - A comparison between the specific humidity (actual amount of vapor in the air) and the capacity (how much water vapor the air can hold) %
7
• Examples Stadium Crowd capacity how full? hhs 2000 ÷ 2600 =0.77 or 77% cc 2000 ÷ 3400 =0.59 or 59%
8
• examples Air at a certain temperature can hold 22 g of vapor per m³, but it actually only has 11 g/m³. What is the… Specific humidity? 11 g/m³ Capacity? 22 g/m³ Relative humidity? 11 g/m³ ÷ 22 g/m³ = 50%
9
Dew Point - Dew Point – The temperature at which 100% Relative Humidity is Reached (or saturation).
10
Temperature and humidity!
- Warmer air can hold more Water! - If there is the same amount of water vapor in the air the warmer air will have a lower humidity, the colder air a higher humidity.
