Feelings of shame, humiliation, anger, fear, isolation, low self esteem
Suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, self harm

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) including nightmares, recurring distressing thoughts, depression and sleeplessness

SGBV survivors with disabilities may face additional consequences, including:
Deterioration of pre-existing physical and psychological impairments
Exacerbated stigma and discrimination, due to lack of confidentiality
Further exclusion and dependence, particularly where perpetrators are caregivers or support people
Loss of assistance or support people, particularly when reporting an incident of violence perpetrated by caregivers or family members
Added psychological and psychosocial consequences, as service providers may not believe them and/or carry negative attitudes about disability
