We have a big knock-off problem! % of Canadian Icewine is Counterfeit 20% of Wine Globally is Counterfeit Producers have no affordable digital authentication system Consumer mistrust of the distribution chain $1.7 trillion dollars of counterfeit goods From 27 million tonnes of wine there are approximately 32 billion bottles produced yearly. Counterfeit wine makes up an estimated 20% of all wine sold globally. In Asia and specifically China, it is thought that 70% of wine is fake while Canadian Icewine sold in China is estimated to be 80% counterfeit. However wineries are not unique in the battle against counterfeiters and market engagement opportunities. We have begun discussions with companies in the pharma, health supplements, food and retail sectors and are negotiating pilots in those industries. Approached by a large exporter of icewine to China Wine Council of Ontario, Wineries Wineries – icewine and premium But large industry players revealed a whole other set of problems for Canadian Producers Traceability We started by creating a protocol that described the transformations of the physical states in the winemaking process We made it GS1 compliant Visualizations of the system to traverse the chain of events and nodes of inputs Created a recall system that reduced recall time from 14 days to 48 hours with human interaction Created an example connection to Quickbooks Inventory SAP is a traceability system Grape to retail traceability

5 To solve the problem in the wine industry we created Vinesource
And we started by solving the problem of tracing the creation of wine from field to retail Vinesource On the consumer side anti-counterfeiting using NFC with a smartphone Explored direct marketing, pull marketing and digital connections to consumer packaged goods Pull analytics on each and every tap This gives us retail to table traceability Created an example connection to an ecommerce suite But the cost of NFC tags was a barrier to entry into high volume labels for wine, we have solve that!
