Symbiosis pd 3
2
Crocodile and plover bird
The plover bird gets food and the crocodile’s mouth is clean. This is mutualism. Crocodile and plover bird The plover bird eats the food out of the crocodile's teeth and prevents it from getting infections. This is the plover birds main diet. Fun Fact There are 13 different species of crocodiles. Morgan

A Zebra has 42 stripes per side
SUMMARY: Mutualism Zebras have poor eyesight and ostriches have bad ears(hearing) so they communicate to protect each other Zebras & Ostriches have a special symbiotic relationship A Zebra has 42 stripes per side Mckenna

Rufous woodpecker and a Black Ant
Usually the woodpecker will eat ants and ants will eat bird eggs, but they both make an exception. The woodpecker lays an egg in the nest. The ants guard the egg and the woodpecker guards the nest. Mutualism This is mutualism because both the woodpecker and the ants benefit from this relationship. The ants are guarded from other woodpeckers, and the egg is guarded and isn’t eaten. Commensalism, The tree and spider
The spider makes a web on a tree, it does not affect the tree at all, but the spider has a home, and a place for it to keep food. It’s Commensalism , because neither of the animals are not affected. The symbiosis Relationship is the spider and the tree. Justin Forest

SHARKS AND REMORA FISH THE REMORA FISH ATTACHES THIS SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP IS TO THE BELLY OF SHARK MUTUALISM BECAUSE BOTH BY USING A SUCKER DICS ORGANISMS ARE BENEFITED. THE ON IT’S MOUTH TO CLING TO SHARK IS BEING CLEANED AND THE THE SHARK’S BELLY WHILE REMORA FISH IS GETTING LEFTOVER REMOVING PARASITES OF THE FOOD FROM THE SHARK. SHARK. A FUN FACT IS THE REMORA FISH IS NOT A PICKY EATER SO IT WILL EAT ANY OF THE SHARK’S LEFTOVERS. Maggie

Sloths and Algae What type of symbiosis is this? Mutualism
Why? Because the algae grows on the sloth’s fur Summary of symbiotic relationship...Sloth hair is long and coarse and depending on the species can contain either a number of grooves or irregular transverse cracks that increase in number and size with the age of the animal The Two organisms involved...Algae, sloths and Moths Interesting fact... Fun fact; The two-toed and three-toed sloths are very similar in appearance, except that the two-toed sloths grow a bit bigger. Though they are similar in form and function, it’s thought that it may be a case of parallel evolution that has caused this as they aren’t actually very closely related.

Cells and Mitochondria
The mitochondria are like the powerhouses of the cell. They take nutrients and break them down to make energy for the cell. The relationship is mutualism because both the mitochondria and cells are benefited. Fun fact: mitochondria have both DNA and ribosomes The cells are benefited because they get energy from the mitochondria The mitochondria are benefited because they get food from turning the sugars into energy for the cell Leah

Symbiosis between Lion and Vulture
Facts: lions A male lion can run 53 MPH. Lions live years. The male lion weighs 420 lb. Lions consume a wide variety of prey, from wildebeest, impala, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and wild hogs to sometimes rhinos and hippos. Facts: Vultures Vulture are scavengers Vultures are carnivores Lion and Vulture This is called commensalism. The lion kills and eats what it can and then the vultures come and eat what is left. Symbiosis between bee and flower
The type of symbiosis is mutualism because both organisms benefit from the other. Bees do not purposely pollinate. They are just trying to get pollen for honey and then they accidently drop some pollen on the other plants. The bees get the nectar they need to make honey from the flowers. The bee brings pollen from one plant to another, resulting in pollination. Katie

FACT: Goby fish and Shrimp: Mutualism
The symbiotic relationship they share is mutualism because they are both being benefited mutualism: Shrimp makes hole and blocks it up from predators Goby fish warn shrimp of a predator because of bad eyesight FACT: CALEB WOOLLER!!!!!!!!! THE BIGGEST SHRIMP EVER CAUGHT IS 18 INCHES!!!!

Symbiotic Relationship
Symbiosis Between Goldenrod and Eurosta Solidaginis (Goldenrod Gall Fly) Symbiotic Relationship The symbiotic relationship between Goldenrod and the Goldenrod Gall Fly is commensalism, because the Goldenrod Gall Fly benefits from the Goldenrod, that is neither helped nor harmed by the Fly itself. The Goldenrod provides a shelter and food for the Fly, which benefits from this, but the plant doesn’t die because the Fly uses resources from the Goldenrod. Fun Facts The Goldenrod Gall Fly is about 5 millimeters long, and creates a 1-2 millimeter hole when it emerges. Some predators of the fly are wasps, beetles, woodpeckers and chickadees. Adult Goldenrod Gall Flies do not eat. Wasps sometimes lay eggs into the gall, and when the wasp eggs “hatch”, they eat the Goldenrod Gall Fly egg or larvae. Other galls include Elliptical Galls made by a type of moth, and Rosette Galls, made by a midge. Katarzyna Wisnauckas

Symbiosis Between Bullhorn Acacia Trees and Acacia Ants
Symbiotic Relationship The symbiotic relationship between Bullhorn Acacia Trees and Stinging Ants is mutualism. The tree provides shelter for the ants and food, while the stinging ants protect it from any animal that touches the tree, by stinging it. Fun Facts Acacia ants will attack basically anything that touches “their” tree, grasshoppers, caterpillars, deer and humans. Acacia trees are usually found in the southern hemisphere. Bullhorn Acacia Trees, are mostly found in the Costa Rican rainforest. Stink Bugs are mostly able to roam freely, since their stink wards off the ants. Birds sometimes nest in the tree. the barnacles are benefiting and the whales are not being harmed
Barnacles and Whales FUN FACT Barnacles are believed to be one of the oldest surviving animals on Earth The whales are acting as an enormous bodyguard for the barnacles and the barnacles protect the whale like a suit of armour the barnacles are benefiting and the whales are not being harmed SYMBIOSIS Elizabeth

mutualism The sea anemone protect itself with its power to sting but has adapted not to sting the clownfish CLOWNFISH AND SEA ANEMONE *Sea anemones can benefit from clownfish, by cleaning the parasites of of them also providing nutrients from their droppings. *Clownfish also will benefit from sea anemone, who can provide food scraps and venomous tentacles protect the clownfish from any attack by other fish. Mutualism both are benefiting some people think though that it’s commensalism Delaney
