Representing Pattern Relationships
Pg. 256

Money Problem- Pg. 256 What Combinations of $2 coins and $5 bills have a total value of $100? Find as many combinations as you can. Use pattern rules, formulas, table of values and graphs to solve the question. One example: 18 $5 bills and 5 $2 coins. Answer all the questions in your table groups.

How I got my Answer Strategies- process of elimination, formulas and table of values. Process of Elimination- there cannot be an odd number of $5 bills because if your total of $5 bills ends in a 5 (1 $5 bill=$5, 3 $5 bills=$15, 5 $5 bills=$25, etc) then the $2 bill coins will not go into $100 evenly. The same can be said for the $2 coins. They must be in multiples of 5 or else they will not fit with the $5 bills evenly into 100.

Formula 5b+2c=100

My Answer Number of $5 Bills Number of $2 Coins Total 20 100 18 5 16
18 5 16 10 14 15 12 25 8 30 6 35 4 40 2 45 50
