Localization of WT1 mRNA expression in the developing kidney
Localization of WT1 mRNA expression in the developing kidney. Analysis of 20-week human kidney by in situ hybridization with the WT1 probe. Light phase (upper panel) and dark phase (lower panel) photomicrographs are shown to demonstrate the hybridization signal and the structures within the developing kidney that express WT1 mRNA. The “S-shaped body” is a precursor of the renal glomerulus, whose inner surface demonstrates high levels of WT1 mRNA expression (arrow). (Photomicrograph kindly provided by Dr. Nic Hastie, Medical Research Council, Edinburgh, UK.)
