Identifying Need Chris Gaze Newton Flotman Church

2 Who are we? Contemporary worship with liturgy
30 – 40 weekly attendance Mix of ages Medieval church building – pews for 90.

3 Parish Development Programme
4 Sundays (May 2014) 3 vision building weeks – invites to congregation and fringe. normal worship with brainstorming in the sermon slot Themes: Worship Discipleship Mission Planning Sunday All morning Build on the ideas - seeking a common mind Groups set up to flesh-out the plans

4 Key elements Prayer Brainstorming needs good facilitators
No analysis. No criticism Look for the potential in half-baked ideas When looking for a way forward be open to criticism. It could be the start of something better. Only those ideas that have people volunteering to make them happen go forward Note: We had done PDPs before but these had not resulted in building work.

5 Talk to the Archdeacon & DAC Secretary
It is never too early They will be able to advise if your ideas are mad and also who you can ask for advice: Other parishes Diocesan experts eg heating, bells, organ, fabric etc. The Archdeacon is your voice in the DAC

6 Choosing the architect
Saw architects at Christian Resources Exhibition Competitive interview Brief Requirements Included our ideas on how to achieve these Made it clear that they could reject these ideas and develop their own Expectations of what they would show us One day of interviews (with Matthew McDade)

7 Consulting the Village
