Year 7 Reflection Learning Objective: To reflect on my first year at Wildern. I can reflect on how I am working towards my goals. I can make any necessary changes to my goals and identify my next steps. I can thank someone who is helping me reach my goals.

Goal Setting At the beginning of the year you completed your goal setting sheet. Take a look back and it and reflect on the following questions: What progress are you making towards reaching your goals? What are you proud of this year? What were some of your challenges/setbacks this year? Do you need to amend or change any of your goals? Why? What are your next steps? What will you focus on going into Year 8? Ask students to silently reflect on this and write a couple of sentences in response to each question. Ask if anyone wants to share some of their reflections.

Ian Wright Meets Teacher
When it comes to achieving our goals there will be lots of people who help and support us along the way: family, friends, teachers, coaches etc. Show students the clip of Ian Wright meeting his teacher and discuss the importance other people have in helping us reach our goals.

Say Thank You! Now that you are one year into working towards your goal, think of the people who have helped you along the way this year. It might be… A teacher who has helped you with something you have found difficult A teacher who gives up their time to run an extra-curricular activity for you or a focus group A friend who has encouraged you A family member, e.g. who has taken you to training, lessons Someone outside of school, e.g. sports coach, music teacher It is important we recognise the help other people give us and say thank you, so you are going to create your own thank you card to give to someone this week. Give students the remainder of the lesson to create their own thank you cards. It would be worth spending a little time helping them with what to write in a thank you card. Top Tips: Identify what you are thanking them for Say why it has been important to you and how grateful you are
