What are UN Peace Operations?
UN Peace Operations bring together the GA, SC, UN Partners, troops/police contributors and host governments in a combined effort to maintain international peace and security. The strength of this model lies in the legitimacy of the UN Charter and in the wide range of participating actors which resource it. UN Peacekeepers wear their countries’ uniform and are identified by their UN blue helmet or beret. Civilian staff of peacekeeping operations are international civil servants, recruited and deployed by the UN Secretariat. 6
